Proposed design for the new residence of the Norwegian ambassador to Bulgaria. A long and slightly inclined site with a view of Sofia, the house is both a private residence for the ambassador and a formal reception space. The design proposes an upper beam with the private residence which connects to the formal areas below and the garden at the rear of the house. It is supported by cores which also give vertical connections to the service areas in the basement. The design seeks to create an imposing front as one approach the house while the long elevation is a formal entrance point which also give shelter to the internal garden.
