A family of origami style observatory pods is situated in the open field, a slight translucency give them a voluminous presence. In the day, an intriguing situation which not fully gives away the functions it serves, at night a practical and functional observatory. The upper axis connects the parking and the deck where amateur astronomers can set up their telescopes with the observatory pods. During the day this becomes a pier for views where hikers can rest and have their lunch while enjoying the landscape. The origami structures are made of steel and polycarbonate. They can be opened and closed manually. When closed they provide a layered enclosure which is secure and safe for weather, but has enough air permeation to avoid temperature building up inside the pod.
