| Boyarsky Murphy are a London based practice of chartered architects with an international profile. BMA’s projects and buildings are innovative and led by concept. Each project is developed from first principles and is based on extensive research into the problems and constraints that the context, site and brief bring. Projects are realised with a fresh approach to the use of materials and construction technologies. Teamwork and communication are vital to the success of these projects. BMA’s track record is of unique and special projects of the highest quality. Boyarsky Murphy has worked in the fields of housing, urban design, renovations, interiors, prefabrication and smaller cultural and educational buildings and projects for the past ten years with award winning projects ranging from large scale housing projects to individual new build houses. They have entered a number of international competitions which they consider as valuable research work for the development of their own architectural position. They are currently working on a number of new build projects in London including one-off houses and a larger housing development on the River Thames. They have recently completed the first stage of an invited competition for an arts and cultural campus complex in Sogndal, Norway. In January 2006 they were shortlisted in an international competition for a 60 storey residential tower in Toronto, Canada. The practice has been featured in the Architectural Foundation’s publications ‘New Architects 2. A Guide to Britain’s Best Young Architects’, London 2001 and ‘New Architects. A Guide to Recent Architecture’ London 1998. Their work has also been featured in ‘London. A Guide to Recent Architecture’ London, Ellipsis 2005; ‘New London Interiors’ London, Merrill, 2004; and ‘House Plus’, Thames & Hudson 2005. They were finalists in the Blueprint/FX International Design Awards 2000 and 2001. In 2001 they won first prize in the Architects’ Journal Small Projects Competition. In 2005 they were finalists in an international housing competition for Charlottesville, Virginia. Their projects were featured in the Asian journal ‘IW. Humanity, Space, Furniture’ in March of this year. Boyarsky Murphy Architects was formed as a partnership in 1994 by Nicholas Boyarsky and Nicola Murphy. The partners had previously worked for larger London practices such as Michael Hopkins & Partners on the refurbishment of Bracken House, the former Financial Times Building; Swanke, Haydon, Connell, on Deutsch Bank’s Headquarters in the City of London; and for Zaha Hadid, Seifert, and YRM on a range of commercial and cultural projects. BMA was registered as a limited company in 2001. In 2006 it gained BS EN ISO 9001:2001 Certification. It currently employs six architectural staff. BMA has a current Professional indemnity Insurance level of £2 million. We offer full RIBA services for residential projects from initial design to planning, tender documentation and construction.
