Amsterdam

Housing, retail and commercial facilities are all housed in ten large 'wedge buildings' that drift in weaves across the site. The 148 housing units all benefit from easy access to workspaces and other facilities. A mixture of social housing and owner-occupied dwellings of various sizes provides accommodation for a richly diverse community. Converted industrial buildings become venues for various sporting and leisure activities, and the site also offers a range of different landscape types for residents to use and customise. The majority of the area is restricted to pedestrians only, with parking for at least 250 cars provided at the entrance to the site. Circulation within the site is defined by the five sunken pits and the five linked pairs of landscaped housing wedges.
